Data is entered by tapping Done, moving to another field, or tapping Calculate. All characters except digits and the decimal point are removed, by default. Since the hyphen ("-") is removed, it is not possible to enter negative numbers or exponents.
Enable EXPONENT in the Tools scene to use exponential notation (e.g. 1.23e3 equals 1230) for industrial volumes.
Entries are immediately validated as double precision floating point numbers. Invalid entries are cleared and reported in the message center. Entries and results greater than 1.798e308 are invalid.
Gray placeholder text appears when the field is empty. Tap the Limoncello image for DEMO DATA.
Proof is a number between 0 and 200 that reflects the alcohol content. It is the volume of alcohol divided by the total volume and multiplied by 200. Entries greater than 200 will be set to 200.
Use Tools to change the default pure grain proof of 190 and/or default vodka proof of 100.
Any liquid unit (ml, liter, ounce, cup, pint, quart, gallon, etc.) may be used but must be the same for all volumes. DEMO DATA uses milliliters as the volume unit.
To exclude a liquid, enter 0 for the Volume.
Any number of decimal places may be used when entering Proof or Volume. Enable EXPONENT in the Tools scene to use exponential notation (e.g. 1.23e3 equals 1230). Entries are immediately validated as double precision floating point numbers. Entries and results greater than 1.798e308 are invalid.
The precision of the results is set in the Tools scene. The default Precision of 1 works well with milliliters (ml) as the volume unit. If the volume unit is liters, a setting of 3 provides milliliter (ml) precision.
When EXPONENT is disabled, Precision represents the number of digits after the decimal point in the results. The default is 1, and the maximum is 4.
When EXPONENT is enabled, Precision represents the number of decimal digits in the results using exponential notation, unless the results can be displayed by Precision + 1 digits. The default is 2, and the maximum is 7.
Use Tools to set default spirit proofs, app behavior, and precision (number of decimal digits in the results). The Tools tab badge displays the current precision setting.
Tapping a spirit (Pure Grain or Vodka) will save its current proof in the Calculate scene as its default proof. The spirit's button will not respond if its proof field is empty.
DEMO DATA, UPSIDE DOWN (iPhone only), and EXPONENT may be disabled/enabled. If UPSIDE DOWN is disabled, landscape orientation will persist when the device is upside down (e.g. when lying in bed). Enable EXPONENT to use exponential notation (e.g. 1.23e3 equals 1230) for industrial volumes.
All settings will persist until the app is deleted.
